You probably read this titleand exclaimed,
“Yeah, right!” “We learned the truth at 17.Love was made for beauty queens,” so
the song goes.
Of course there is anecdotal
evidence that there are doors of opportunity only beauty can open. But if you consider
how the world has perceived beauty, there is also significant evidence that men
and women of character define beauty, not the other way around. Decades ago,
full-bodied women were more attractive, and toned women were considered masculine.Now
being skinny is the grand goal.Who knows how the world will define beauty years
from now?
What we’re trying to say is that
being beautiful (enough to become a model) cannot entirely be about the way a
person looks. Aspiring models ought to possess confidence, strength, and
character to make their beauty truly shine. These are the traits that trained
eyes appreciate in modeling talents.
So let’s break these requirements
down, shall we? What are some of the traits that aspiring models should possess
to get their foot at the door of this fabulous industry?

Unwavering Self-confidence. “Unwavering” is a bit too much to ask, but
if you can train yourself to like yourself, celebrate who you are, and love how
you look, that’s one of the greatest feats you can achieve in this lifetime. Genuine
confidence shines through. The world will overlook the little flaws that
self-loathing people obsess about: freckles, eyes too close together, rounder
thighs, stubby nose and so on. Some of
the most beautiful faces and figures that we love are far from being
quintessential and perfect: Tyra Banks, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow,
Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lawrence, and so on.

A Positive Attitude and a Great Work Ethic. Being a model is not all glamor and
fame. Even the most successful top
models have had to face rejection in the worst possible way. Every inch of
their faces and bodies are subject to constant scrutiny. Because there is no shortage of young and
beautiful people, you can bet professional models doubt their ability to find
work once in a while. But that’s life for everyone, model or not. Those who triumph in their fields hope for
the best and work hard to get there. Modeling also involves travelling, waking
up early in the morning, and dealing with clients and other artists, so a great
attitude towards work is necessary.

Great Health and Stamina. Modeling involves working long hours, and a
professional has to stay radiant up until the last shoot. The first step to being beautiful is being
healthy, relaxed, and physically strong. Your health will also do wonders to your
skin and hair.

Intelligence. Although models don’t invent rockets, any
professional photographer will tell you that the expression on a face is just
as important (if not more important) than its configurations. Modeling after
all is an art of persuasion. Models have to be able to convince the world that
what they have on is fashionable, trendy, and a great purchase.
Believe it because it’s true:
inner beauty is the key to succeeding as a model. After all, it is the part in
every person that cannot be airbrushed.
